Dada's Second Innings As Captain

0 comments
The former Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly is back as KolkataKnightRiders captain. After leading his side in the first edition of IPL, the prince of kolkata was controversially replaced by McCullum, the decision made by team's coach well known as "Bhookaa-Naan".He is now likely to lead his team KKR in the third edition of IPL.
Ganguly met his team owner in England when he was there to watch ICC T20 WorldCup, they discussed about the captaincy issue as well as appointing a new coach.
"Ganguly and ShahRukh Khan had a discussion about this when the left-hander was in London last week. They have agreed in priniciple that Ganguly will lead the side," the source said."There were also discussions about the possible coaches. Wright and Bevan are the front runners. It is up to Shah Rukh to take the final call."

The decision is more likely to come about as the eligible candidates for captaincy- Ricky Ponting and McCullum will be busy with the national duty during the IPL 2010.

WC 2011 Logo Unveiled

0 comments

The ICC cricket world cup 2011 logo was unveiled yesterday in Mumbai. Designed by Australian creative firm Witekite, the logo is intended to reflect the spirit of cricket in the hosting nations India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka.
The unveiling was attended by some senior officials and some of the cricketing legends Micheal Bevan, Aravinda de Silva, Clive Lloyd, who led the West Indies to victory in the first two editions in 1975 and 1979, Dilip Vengsarkar and Balwinder Singh Sandhu.

The event logo story - a celebration of cricket

The crowd is part of the action, hands up and cheering and shouting for their heroes. The circular shape makes a cricket ball hurtling down the pitch, seam up. Different player silhouettes and the crowd form a pattern around the seam.

The green seam indicates the one day ball and the green of the pitch and ground. The players and crowd surround this with motion and activity. The colours and figures on each side of the ball represent the event host nations coming together along with the world of cricket.

The colour and movement creates a festival, players and fans coming together from around the world to celebrate cricket in the sub-continent.

IPL Among Top 10 In The World!

1 comments

The famous SportsPro magazine in its july issue had published the Top 200 world's valuable sporting properties. The youngest among the list is IPL which is a 2 year old event is unbelivelbily ranked 6th in th list, worth $ 1.6 billion. Unsurprisingly the FIFA world cup occcupies  5th position with a value of $ 1.7 billion. Being just 1 position down to FIFA world cup is a very big achievement for IPL.

The top four places are filled by the American sporting properties:

National Football League (NFL) at $ 4.5 billion. It is followed by Major League Baseball (MLB) at $  3.9 billion, the National Basketball Association (NBA) at $ 3.35 billion and Nascar stock car racing at $ 1.9 billion.

The Ferrari Formula One team (7th) at a value of $ 1.55 billion is followed by Manchester United Football Club (8th) at $ 1.495 billion. Dallas Cowboys (10th), with the NFL team valued at $ 1.278 billion.

Champions Or Chumpions!

1 comments
Yesterday's match with England is end of saga depicting India to win their second title.
The whole nation is disappointed by the performance of the team especially the poor form of skipper MSD.
Here are the reasons I feel why India lost the match:

1. Miserable batting by Jadeja, who scored 25 off 35 balls which is not desired strike-rate in T-20 format.But you dont expect a new player like him to shine in his first match, that too in the situation of do or die

2. With 9 required of 2 balls and lethal Yousuf on strike, Indian fans still had a hope that India would make it, untill Dhoni commited a big blunder. Dhoni was supposed to take 2 runs when Yousuf hit the ball for straight drive, instead Dhoni restricted Yousuf to take just 1 run, which changed the whole scenario of the game. This is not the first blunder done by the Indian skipper, earlier in the last match against WI Dhoni failed to hit the stumps even when the ball was quite comfortably in his hand to runout Bravo , which cost him heavily.

3. Dhoni has to be blamed for other reason also. When Dhoni came on to the crease at the last 6 overs India required runs at a rate of 12 per over. Slowly as the match progressed to the last 3 overs and India required runrate of over 13 Dhoni was still seen defencing the ball just for 1 run.
Well..you don't expect any batsmens to play a defence at the last overs fo the T-20 format. This shows Dhoni's ability to play in the tense situations. Surely he is not a match winner.

4. Poor fielding by Yuvraj in the last over of England's innings gifted 4 runs t England.

One thing is for sure, nothing went well for Dhoni throughout the tournaments.
There is also smell of rumour that most of the Indian players where not happy with the behaviour of the skipper.

Can India Retain Their Title

1 comments

No doubt India is a strong contender for the ICC T-20 champion title,thanks to the board tournament IPL which had made the players to cope up easily with this short format of the game.
If India retain their title the lion's share credit will be given to the IPL also if India fails to retain their title,the loss may be responsible because of IPL.In other words IPL can have a negative impact as well as positive impact.
Well..you know the +ve impact and coming to -ve impact,the players seems to be very tired after playing game continously for a long time,it has even made some players injury pron.

Its upto the players what impact they make out of IPL.

AKONvicted At IPL Closing Ceremony

1 comments

What a closing ceremony it has been for the IPL season 2.

Fire works,Laser show,Flying candles,performance by Bollywoood star Katrina Kaif

made the closing ceremony of IPL-2 a worth watching till the midnight for the Indian fans.

Lot more spice to this receipe was added by my favourite singer AKON.

Akon is poor at dancing ,his work at IPL  clsoing ceremony was to sing a song, shake some of his body parts.Akon sued the crowd with his most hit song SMACK THAT... followed by the songs RIGHT NOW NA NA NA and BEAUTIFUL of his latest album freedom.

It seems thats Akon gonna do a song for Indian fans and is planning for a concert in Mumbai next year.If it is so I will be the happiest man.

Its Deccan

Well..they were at the bottom of the table having won only 2 out of 14 matches in the first season of IPL .And in the second season a little was expected from them....They are Deccan Chargers.

Batting first the DC set up a mere total for the Royal Challengers Banglore.At one stage it looked like RCB could easily win the tourny till a good spell by Young lad Harmeet singh came as a disaster to RCB.Harmeet played many matches in IPL-2 but no match was good for him being the most beaten bowler for the chargers,but Gilly had trust in him and gave a berth to him in the final.Harmeet utilized this oppurtunity fruitfully with an impressive bowling figure,which led the charger to claim the tittle.

From being at the bottom of the table to winning the IPL crown ,it has been an extraordinary journey for the chargers.

Expect the same in the next seasons CHARGERS and hope that next time you have your city name Hyderabad on your logo

Racial Discrimination Among KnightRiders

4 comments
More and more trouble for KolkattaKnightRiders's owner Shahrukh Khan.This time its off-field and is more critical.
The assistant coach of KKR, Bicheal is under scanner for racially abusing an Indian team mate during the practise session.The unfamous coach without realising the consequences of his act said to one of his Indian mate that "YOU INDIAN DO WHAT EVER I SAY......".
The name of the targeted Indian is not yet revealed.
According to a local news reporter the whole story of racial discrimination started when SRK organized a party for their only win in the tournament,the foreign(white) players and Indians(blacks) were seen partying seperately.This was also seen on the field with the behaviour of the players.
What so ever!!I think Bicheal('BITCH'al) will have a hard time after his stinking act.
If Shahrukh is a real Indian then he will remove this rubbish(Bicheal) out of the team,with out any hesitation.
What you think guys ,what should be the best punishment for the RUBBISH HOLE??

SRK To Sell KKR??

1 comments
Below is the net profit/loss in crores earned by the IPL Franchise owners in the first edition.
Team---------->Revenues--------->Expenses------------>Profit/Loss
KKR ---------->89 ---------->81 ------------>+8
RR ---------->55 ---------->50 ------------>+5
DD ----------> 71 ---------->79 ------------>-8
RC ---------->50 ---------->95 ------------>-45
DC ---------->64 ---------->84 ------------>-20
KX11 ---------->61 ---------->64.4 ------------>-3.3
MI ---------->70 ---------->91 ------------>-21
CSK ---------->74 ---------->80 ------------>-6

KKR and RR were only teams to have a good turnover.Clearly with this statistics,if I would have had a team then I would have quickly sold it.The frustration of the owners due to their team's turnover in the 1st edition of ipl was clearly seen.
8 0r 5 crores,this is not the profit the Franchise Owners were expecting.Moreover the loss incurred by many teams added worry to Lalit Modi,who is trying hard ragarding this issue.Im sure no owner will be happy by their turnover if their team wins the tournament.

With KKR at the bottom of the table there are talks that the KKR Owner Shahrukh Khan is
selling his team.The team performance and most importantly the profit are the major reasons behind this.
I wonder who will be buying the team,with probably a low profit turnover ratio??

Sachin Tussi Great Ho!

0 comments
Did you watch the match yesterday between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings?
Atleast the highlights?
If no,you have lost one of the greatest batsmen in the world-Sachin's power packed show.
It was like a treat to watch the match.
Sachin and Sanath roped the best partnership in IPL with 127 runs in just 12.2 overs.
Sachin blasted 63 of just 49 balls with 3 hits over the fences.
At the moment it looks like MI and Deccan Chargers are the most dangerous ,each being successful in threating the opposition .
Well, Im supporting MmbaiIndians ,which team are you supporting????

Dravid Shut'em Up

0 comments
Banglore RC might have lost their match against Deccan Chargers but one good news for the RC is their former captain Rahul Dravid is in blasting form.The man who was strongly critisized in the first edition of IPL that he was not fit to play the T-20 format,but he came back harder shutting the mouths of all the his critics.He scored impressive 48 against DC yesterday to help his team lose by a mere margin.This bagged him the orange cap for the most number of runs till date.The most costliest player,Kevin P replaced Dravid as the RC captain,but Dravid so intelligently replaced him as the best player in the team.
Dravid has given a clear indications that nothing matter before Experience.

Every Dog Has Its Day

0 comments

Its the first time in the history of cricket!Strangely this history was not made by a human .Its was a DOG.A lonely dog invaded the field just after six overs of the first match of IPL-2 between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

The match was interuppted for 10 minutes by the unwanted guest.The dog came on the field and positoned itself right beside the CSK skipper M.S.Dhoni,prompting one of the commenter to say "I think the ICC must have a dog's commitee to handle such situations".One of the field incharge dived full streched to catch the dog but in vain.CSK pacer Goni tried to lure it but even he failed to get rid of the dog from the ground.Atlast when the dog got tired , it moved out of the field,resuming the play.

MI won the game by 16 runs.

Deccan Chargeless

1 comments

With players like Gilchrist,Gibbs,Laxman,Styris and the most paid person of IPL 1st edition -Symmonds,they were expected to be the strongest team before the start of IPL first edition

but ended as the weakest team.I hope you know whom im talking about -"DECCAN CHARGERS" .They won just 3 matches out of 12 ,last year.Well..its the team which has

less numbers of fans.The first reason for this may be their poor performance and the second could be that the way they promote their team(actually they hardly had promoted their team).Sometimes i get a feeling that the team is not a part of IPL.I suggest the team Owner to spend some penny on promoting the team.KUKI kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padtha hai.

This season they have their new official coach and captain as Lehmann and Gilly.Lets see what they can do.Well...im a Hyderabadi and im not so proud of my team -Deccan Chargers.All that i like about the team is their CHEERLEADERS .

Lets Hope that this time they win atleast 4 matches.

Why Wasn't It 2-0

0 comments
India might have won the test series by 1-0 in NZ after 42 year,but was it alll enough.
I mean the series could have been won by 2-0 which could have boosted India's points in
the ICC Rankings.
Dhoni no doubt is a humble and a strong leader but the third test between India and NZ
indicated that even a strong leaders make big mistakes sometimes.The third test could have been easily won by India if Dhoni had declared the innings some time earlier.The test was drawn due to bad weather with NZ making 281 and India needing only 2 wickets for victory.
These are the incidents from which Dhoni must learn to rectify his mistakes.

ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE DHONI

Black Clouds Around DADA

6 comments

Saurav Dada is looking in trouble these days.The coach of Kolkata Knight Riders John Buchannan had advised Saurav to take rest and resign temporarily as the team's skipper.

John claims that Ganguly is suffering from a back injury,which will make him unfit for the coming big bash IPL-2.

Ganguly instead is trying hard and pleasing the team owner Shahrukh Khan.

Seems like he dont want to play for KKR as a non-skipper.

The management of KKR had made it cleared about this issue that

the team has not been declared and that the skipper may be changed.

Dada....dont think of retiring even in IPL.Life is full of ups and down.

India In Trouble At The End Of Day 2

0 comments

Riding high Jesse Ryder made a maiden double century at the day 2 of the second test between NZ and India.McCullum,Vettori and Franklin also added trouble to India having played a good innings.This helped NZ to clinch a Giant score of 619 before declaring their innings with 9 wickets down.In rsponse to this India looked like they are going to have a good start but then came a big blow with Sehwag departuring early in the innings.Lots of hopes were on Gautam,but he disappointed the fans by playing a fluke shot.Then came Ishant as a night watchman.He could survive only 12 balls.The only thing that will be in the Blues mind will be to save the match.
With Rahul and Sachin on the crease India are 79/3 at the end of day 2.

India Miss Dhoni

1 comments

Dont know whether it was Dhoni missing the game or the pitch in the favour of
the batsmen,NZ made Indian feel fish out of water smashing 351/5 at the end of first day of 2nd test in Napier.
Dhoni's decision to be out of the game came just before few minutes the game started as he was suffering from back injury.
Sehwag then walked onto the ground with blue blazzer for the toss.Having winnig the toss Sehwag elected to bat first on the pitch which was favourable to the batsmen.
Sehwag's decision to bat first proved to be worthy with NZ struggling at 23/3 .
Then came Ross taylor and Ryder partnership which added 250 plus runs to their team total.Sehwag tried all his bowler including him but he was enable to break their partnership until Bhajji took the wicket of Ross Taylor.Taylor made 151 valuable runs.
At the end of the day Ryder was on 137 and Franklin on 27.

Wonder cant India manage a single game with out Dhoni?????

31 SIXES what else a cricket crazy needs to watch in an ODI.The 3rd ODI between NZ and India saw a new world record of hitting 31 sixes,18 by Indians and 13 by Kiwis.Moreover, the match aggregate of 726 runs by both teams combined is the second biggest in the history of ODI cricket, behind the 872 runs made in the Jo'burg ODI between Australia and New Zealand on 12-3-2006. It is also the most runs scored in an ODI match between the two teams obliterating the previous best of 655-19 at Rajkot on 5-11-1999. India made 392/4and NZ 334/10.India could set this giant score with superb batting by Sachin Tendulkar,Yuvraj,Dhoni and Raina.Sachin made 163 of just 133 balls while Yuvraj hit 87 of just 60 balls.Sachin hit 163 and got retired hurt due to stomach muscle pain.sachin is doubtful to play hte 4th ODI.

The kiwis hold their nerves and made a pleasan start in heir innnning. This made the Indians giant score 392 to be chaseable.The kiwis got out making 334 in 45.1 overs.Ryder,MCCullum and Mills were the top scorers for the NZlanders scoring 105,71 and 54 respectively.

Rain Abondens 2nd ODI

3rd March will be considered as black day for cricket.Srilankan team bus,which was on its way to Lahore stadium for their match was attacked by 12 gunmens in Lahore,Pakistan.The inicident occurred around 8:45 AM.About 6 Srilankan cricketers were injured in this assault.The injured cricketers are Srilankan Captain Jayawardene,Sangarkara,sameera,Taranga,Mendis and Asst coach Paul Farbrace

Atleast 5 members were killed in this terror strike including the driver of the Srilanka cricket team.This is the most tragedic inicident in the world of sports.The Srilankan team soon after the incident were airlifted to AbuDhabi from where they fly to their home.

Intelligence says that the incident was well planned and that the Terrorists aim was to make the Srilankan team hostages.All the 12 gunmen escaped with out any injuries.How could they escape ??I mean,there were many videos broadcasted in tv channels showing the Terrorists opening the fire and roaming freely at the incident site.Thats shows the security level in Pakistan.The Indian and Kiwis who were playing their ODI were seen wearing a black band around their arms to protest against this incident.India won the match by 53 runs d/l method.

INDIA FAILS AGAIN!

1 comments

India lost even the second T20 match against NZ in Wellington.After winning the toss and electing to bat first,India had a good initial start up,but they failed to carry on the momentum through out the 20 overs.Yuvraj was the highest scorer scoring 50 of just 34 balls . Last match starrer Raina,Yousuf both went back to pavillion with DUCK .At one state India were looking to have control over the match but then came a blow for Indians when Yuvraj was caught at hte boundary.As the match progressed to the last 5 overs Indian skipper was still seen defencing the ball that came his way.Looked liked he wanted to be NOTOUT instead of hitting a big hits to take the team out of the trouble.At the end the Indian innings Dhoni was 28* (30).

NZ had a fantastic start at the starting of their innings ,looked like they were going to finish off the match within 15 overs but Indians bowlers hold there nerves and bowled superbly to take the match to the last over.It was a tensed situtation with NZ needing 1run from 1 ball. Irfan pathan bowled a good last ball which MCCULLUM hit up in the air ,it was seen to be a catch but it went short for Rohit Sharma,even though Rohit made a good attempt to catch it .

INDIA BEATEN IN 1ST T20

0 comments

It was a bad day for the Indains as the kiwis chased successfully a mere score of 166 in 18.5 overs with 7 wickeets remaining,thanks to the powerful knocks by Mc Cullum and M.Guptill with 56*(49) and 41(28) runs respectively.The crowd enjoyed the match with both teams striking a poweful hits over the ropes .The match recorded 24 sixes 13 India and 11 by NZ which is a new World Record in T20.From the Indian side Raina's inning of 61 runs from 43 balls with 5 6's and 2 4's helped India to set a score of 162.
Dhoni's critics now have araised and claims that the Dhoni's days of Fortunes has finished.what say??Do you think its Dhoni's LUCK which makes him a successful captain.Post in your comments.
